A new release by Kavalan in December 216 to commemorate its very successful first decade in the whisky business and the inauguration of a second distillery. This is also Kavalan’s first whisky aged in rum casks. The sub-tropical climate of Taiwan, and the pure glacial water from the mountains have had a unique effect on Kavalan whisky matured in these rum casks. nextSection Color: Deep, burnished gold like a Caribbean sunset Nose: A honeyed sweetness is laced through the fruity character of the Kavalan whisky courtesy of the influence of the rum cask. Alluring aromas of golden syrup cake, waxed lemon, pistachio-studded nougat, creamy vanilla, stewed apple, papaya and faint white pepper are exuded from the glass. Palate: A gloriously thick texture saturated with melon and papaya sweetness, it is showered with an array of spices, clove, and root ginger delivered at cask strength, before it settles down to a sustained final phase of light toffee, golden sultana, and Kendal mint cake. Tasting: Use the Kavalan Rum Single Malt Whisky for a cocktail or pair exquisitely with chocolate.
